Lea Baumert is recent graduate from the Master's Program at Louisiana State University. In addition to being a Teaching Assistant for the flute studio, she also involved herself in the music community through the Kids Orchestra after school program, and the Magnolia Winds, a wind quintet whose goals are centered in community outreach. She also performed with the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and was the first prize winner of the LSU Concerto Competition in 2020.

Before studying at LSU, Lea was a private flute instructor in the North Dallas area, where she taught a private studio of over 50 with Richardson ISD.  She was a regular sub with the Dallas Opera and played in a local woodwind quintet.

Throughout her undergrad, Lea regularly performed with the ensembles at West Texas A&M University. She played principal and second flute with the WTAMU Symphony Orchestra (European Tour Summer 2016), and was principal flute of the WTAMU Symphonic Band for three years. She also involves herself with the Musical Theatre department at WTAMU and Amarillo Little Theatre and participated in the pit orchestra for several productions including Mary Poppins and Jane Eyre. Other chamber groups include the Magnolia Winds, WTAMU Woodwind Quintet, Flute Choir, and Covenant Quartet. Lea also performs as a soloist in all genres of flute repertoire. She has premiered compositions at the Peabody Conservatory in 2017 as well as many other composers at LSU and with the New Music On the Bayou festival in 2021. She has also performed as a featured soloist with the Matilda Gaume Early Music Consort, performing Vivaldi's Piccolo Concerto in a minor on the sopranino recorder in 2017.

In addition to playing flute, Lea also contributes to the music community as a pianist and a stage manager. She played piano with the top jazz ensemble at WTAMU and played keyboard for many productions with the Musical Theatre Department. Lea also served as the Stage Manager and flute sub with the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, CO.
